Somehow, consuming anything blue holds a great appeal to the young Jedi’s, but seeing as much of the blue food is over-the-top toxic blue-raspberry, high fructose, propylene glycol whatever and chemical blue dyes?

So, we have unlearned what almost killed us – our quest ended up in the genuine blues clues of amazing food.
We found the butterfly pea flower, aka, clitoria ternatea. The force is strong in this one! Not only is this tea a GORGEOUS deep indigo blue?
It is delicious, serious nutrition.
Butterfly Pea has been ascribed many health benefits in both Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine, many of which have been supported with contemporary clinical research. It shows promise in animal models for its memory enhancing effects, and has a wide spectrum of neurological benefits. There is preliminary evidence suggesting that the butterfly pea is helpful with insulin resistance – as it is demonstrating great promise that it is healthy for the liver and circulating lipoproteins, and benefit diabetics by inhibiting glucose uptake from the diet.

RECIPE
2 cups Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
2 TBLS Butterfly Pea Flowers
2 Cups water
2 TBLS MCT oil
10 drops Liquid Stevia
2 scoops collagen.
OPTIONAL: for extra creaminess, 1/3 cup heavy cream OR 1/3 cup full fat coconut milk.
Boil water to steep your tea – let it steep for 4-5 minutes or until it is a gorgeous blue-purple. Add the tea, to the almond milk, add MCT oil.
(Add in heavy cream or full fat coconut milk if desired)
Whisk over medium heat until hot and foamy. Place in blender, add collagen and stevia and blend until foamy. Pour into mugs, top with sugar-free whipped cream (we make our own with stevia)

Butterfly Pea Flower is found throughout South East Asia – and is used extensively for is believed the flower has many medicinal properties, especially for your kidneys, blood, and immune system. Naturally high in antioxidants, the flower can help reduce oxidative stress caused from a build-up in environmental and food toxins in your body.
